BRIEF OVERVIEW OF THE UNIVERSITY
Founded in 1918, Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University is the oldest public university in the Caucasus region and Georgia. The university is named after one of the founding fathers – a Georgian historian Ivane Javakhishvili. Other founders are Giorgi Akhvlediani, Shalva Nutsubidze, Dimitri Uznadze, Grigol Tsereteli, Akaki Shanidze, Petre Melikishvili, Andrea Razmadze, Korneli Kekelidze, Ioseb Kipshidze, Petre Melikishvili and Ekvtime Takaishvili. Petre Melikishvili was elected the first rector (the head of universities, colleges, and schools) of the University.
According to the U.S. News & World Report University Rankings, lvane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University is positioned at 359th in the world.

TSU currently has 18,000 students with a total of 5,000 staff members to cater to them.
The University has sixty scientific laboratories with seven museums and a personal university newspaper called The Tbilisis Universiteti.
TSU has scientific relations with Budapest Eötvös Loránd University (Hungary), Brunel and London Universities (Great Britain), University of Vienna (Austria), Tehran and Gilan Universities (Iran), Grenoble and Toulon Universities (France), UNESCO, Association of European Universities and the Council of Europe.
The University is proud to have six Prime Ministers of Georgia as there alumni.

Offered Programs / Brief Overview of Program

TSU has six faculties:
Medical Academy – Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Odontology, Faculty of Nursing, Faculty of Public Health, Institute of Endocrinology, Institute of Cardiology and Neuroscience Institute.
Veterinary Academy – Department of Anatomy and Physiology, Department of Veterinary Path Biology and Department of Food Safety and Quality.

1. Law – Course offered is General Law.

2. Economics and Business – Courses offered are Economics, Microeconomics and Management, Marketing and Commerce, International Business.
3. Humanities – Courses offered are Philosophy, Modern researches and Methodologies, Development of scientific work and Research-based educational activities.
4. Medicine – Courses offered are Public Health, Biology, Occupational therapy, Medicine, Epidemiology and Biostatistics.
5. Social and Political Sciences – Courses offered are Political Science, Journalism, International Relations, Human Geography, Sociology and Social Work.
6. Exact and Natural Sciences – Courses offered are Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Geography, Computer sciences, BIology, Geology, Electric and Electronic engineering.

Annually $ 6,000

The entrance examination is held between 2nd January and 1st July depending on the applicant group. The examination could be held in Kaunas, Lithuania, or any other registered city worldwide. The selected applicants will be called for an entrance examination by an Official from the University.
