BRIEF OVERVIEW OF THE UNIVERSITY
Palacký University in Olomouc was founded in 1573 by the Jesuit order. It is the second-oldest University in the Czech Republic and the oldest university in Moravia. In 2017, 24,000 students studied in over eight faculties of accredited study programs. According to International rankings, Palacký ranks among the best universities in the world and is one of the very top Czech universities. Many distinguished people have taught, worked and studied here including Gregor Mendel and Albrecht von Wallenstein.

The Palacký University offers courses and programs that lead towards officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees and doctorate degrees in several areas of study. The 445 years old education institution has a selective admission policy based specially around entrance examinations. International applicants are also eligible to apply.

The Palacký University has eight faculties. These faculties are science, law, theology, philosophy, medicine and dentistry, education, physical culture, and health science. The University offers over three hundred degree programs and their variations, with many courses available in foreign languages also.
